Trial access to Scite

Update: our trial access to Scite has been extended until 14 July 2024.

From May 6th, the researchers and students of University of Szeged have a trial access to Scite, an artificial intelligence-based research support tool.

Scite not only contains the metadata of DOI registered articles with Gold, and Green Open Access, but also indexes the full text of articles available for subscription from many major publishers. The tool supports reliable scientific literature search and citation tracking from natural sciences to humanities with the following features:

Citation Statement Search: a search for a publication with a DOI will display the publications that reference the article. In addition to the abstracts, you can view the paragraphs citing the publication in question, and display and contextualise whether the article just mentions, supports or contradicts it (example) Scite itself does not provide the full text of the publications used, but it does include a link to the publication where you can view it with the University’s subscription.

Scite Assistant: AI-based chat that, unlike other AI tools, provides responses based on scientific publications with a real list of references, not false references. Besides English the tool is also available in Hungarian and other languages as well.

Scite Reference Check: By uploading the manuscript, the tool checks the referenced publications and marks if any have been retracted or or a correction has been published. (example)

Authors with ORCID can validate their profile created by Scite, helping them to track citations to their publications.

DOI Dashboard: Build and save custom searches by entering DOIs or direct import from importing directly from Mendeley or Zotero library.

Additionally, there is a Chrome browser extension that displays live the Scite Citation Statement summary available on the publisher’s site, and with the Zotero plugin, the Scite Citation Statement of saved publications in your own library can be displayed.

Scite is available until May 29th with registration with a University email address or IP range.

English language videos on how to use Scite can be found HERE, other guides HERE.
