General information about the self-service checkout:
- location: Music Collection (ground floor, atrium right back corner)
- location of the checkout station: enter the collection and turn to the right
- only the circulating material of this collection of the Library can be checked out in this way
- for borrowing a valid library card is necessary
- conditions of borrowing are the same as included in the Circulation Policy
- staff member of the collection is available for assistance
- the station is only for checking out (NOT for renewals and placing holds)
- documents checked out here should be returned at the counter of the Loan Section (NOT in the Music Collection)
- if you need further explanation in case of unsuccessful checking out please visit the counter of the Loan Section
The procedure of self-checkout:
- select the document(s)
- circulating documents have a special label
- place the document to the station with spine downwards
- several documents can be checked out simultaneously but not more than there is room for in the special area on the station
- put your library card to the designated area, under the scanner
- the machine will scan your barcode and connects you to the database of Circulation
- in case of not validated cards or cards expiring within 2 weeks, or in case of other reasons that block your circulation you will get a message on the screen and you cannot continue the process. Please visit the Loan desk!
- the two columns of the next screen show the following information:
- on the left hand side you will see the list of those documents that are on loan with you
- on the right hand side you will see the list of documents to be checked out
- please check whether
- every document has been scanned (possible reasons for not being listed: the document is not loanable, it does not have an RFID label)
- the status of the documents is “Loanable”
- press the button “A dokumentumok kikölcsönzése” (“Checking out documents”)
- enter your password
- you should use the same password as with other services of the Library (e.g. WiFi, CD-ROM network)
- you should use the keyboard of the screen: the mouse will help to enter the characters
- you can shift from lower case to capital letters on the screen: (a →A)
- two receipts will be printed right after the transaction
- please go to the librarian on duty to
- sign and leave one of the receipts there and
- have the document(s) desensitized
- you do no thave to sign out, it will be automatic
- if you have many or large books to be checked out you have to sign in again and begin an other transaction
