The Oriental Collection was established at the end of 2004 when the onetime library of the Department of Altaic Studies and book bequests of several excellent orientalist experts were integrated. The collection including nearly 50.000 documents belongs to the internationally known and acknowledged special collections.
The task of the collection is to facilitate research workings on Oriental topics carried out at the University of Szeged, and to collect and maintain the Hungarian and international literature on Oriental studies and Hungarian prehistory.
Location
The collection is situated on the ground floor of the library, close to the Batthyány street end of the building. It can be used by all registered readers of the Klebelsberg Library of the University of Szeged. It is open from 8 am to 4 pm on weekdays and closed on Saturdays.

Information on usage
The material of the Oriental Collection is almost 100 percent processed, and those interested can search the library catalog for bibliographic data of the items.
Certain pieces are highly protected, these documents can only be read locally. All such restrictions are indicated in the catalog. All other documents are subject to the general terms and conditions of the Library.
