We have several catalogs:
- Online catalog: available on the Library’s website, can be used at home. Besides searching library collections, this catalog can also be used to request books and periodicals located in the stack rooms, for borrowing or local use.
- “Storage request” catalog: can be used only in the library. It can be started with the icon, and is available on the computers of the General Reference Section and of the reading rooms. With the help of this catalog readers can review the documents located in the library, and can send storage requests for borrowing or local use.
It makes possible to:
- identify documents within the collection,
- locate items,
- obtain circulation information.
Both books and periodicals can be searched in this catalog. The database contains documents of the holdings of the University Library. A certain part of the presently existing departmental, institutional libraries can also be found in the online catalog but in these cases the beginning of the location information is not KK. Every current and not current periodical is in the catalog. In case of newspapers only the current material is available through the catalog.
Online resources can also be searched, but we recommend you to use Summon Discovery Service. This catalog can search the articles of the periodicals, so it’s right to find by topic. Our foreign languages online periodicals can be found in the SZTE eBooks eJournals A-Z catalog. (You can change language in the top right corner of the window.) Read more about online resources here.
Accents should be indicated in the search terms. Articles, conjunctions should be avoided.
First a list will be seen. The details (data of publication, edition, notation marks etc.) of respective works can be retrieved by clicking on the proper line. It is recommended to begin browsing at the end of the list!
In case of borrowing, it is advised to look for a copy located in the reading areas. If there is a copy on the open access shelves, the notation mark of the document and the reading room should be memorized. Just visit the reading room, take the work from the shelf and go with that to the Loan Section. Read more about reading areas here.
If it is only the stack room where copies are available, with the help of the program, by clicking to the “Stack room request” button, a copy can be requested from there. In this case readers will have to wait 35-40 minutes while the book arrives at the Loan Section or at the reading rooms. Copies can be requested for borrowing and for local use: these options can be selected when sending the stack room request. Read more about the stack rooms here.
Assistance for using the program can be asked at the Enquiry desk or in the reading rooms.
